About The Dignity project

TDP was established in 2019 by founders Lincoln Harris, Madelene Pearson and Rhan Harris, formalising more than two decades of community projects and engagement in India under a single banner. It combines their expertise and passions in the fields of education, sport and community engagement and creates a platform on which to grow previous programs. Prior to establishing The Dignity Project, the founders operated in India a countrywide sports program, supported local schools and partnered with NGOs in projects to distribute women’s sanitary products. In 2023 Kanwaljit Singh joined The Dignity Project as India manager based in New Delhi, bolstering TDP’s local knowledge and expertise in India. Lincoln, Madelene, Rhan and Kanwaljit are united not only by friendship, but a common desire to promote dignity for all individuals and communities The Dignity Project engages with. Together, they have established ambitious targets and policies to advance the work of TDP into future decades.

The Dignity Project focuses on programs and projects centred on education, women’s health and nutrition, building on the work we have been doing in India for many years. Some of our current projects include support for Wonderkids’ English Medium School in Khajuraho, north India; Thrive Community Kitchen in Khajuraho and a reuseable sanitary pad distribution project that has reached more than 500 women to date. Our projects also include computer training and digital literacy education, as well as sports related events for schools. The work of TDP addresses 10 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Dignity is central to an individual’s well-being and integral to being human. For TDP, the strongest overarching value that guides our work is creating and achieving dignity. Time and again it is the value we return to when planning, strategizing and evaluating what we do. Dignity. Adopting the name The Dignity Project reminds us that all our actions, big or small, should strive for dignity for others.

The legal structure of The Dignity Project Ltd. is a company limited by guarantee. TDP is registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Significantly, unlike many charities, we are committed to spending 100% of donations on project work. We personally cover all administration and operating expenses in Australia in order to achieve this and all our work is done on a voluntary basis.
